At times, it seems as though a month does not go by without hearing about an outbreak of some food related illness. Whether it is E coli, salmonella, mad cow disease, or something worse, it can be scary when there is a national recall of a product that you consumer daily. For instance, there is an average of 3000 food related deaths per year in the United States. Fortunately, the Retail Industry Leaders Association and BRC developed the Global Standard for Consumer Products North America edition. Of course, this requires ISO 27001 certification, in addition to other training, although ISO 27001 certification is a good place to start.
This is a great to hear for a couple of different reasons. The most obvious of which is the fact that food production will be monitored more closely, and hopefully, decrease the incidence of food related illness. Also, closer monitoring of food production will require more workers to do more jobs. Thus, there is no better time than the present to pursue ISO 27001 certification, As9100 certification, BRC certification, HACCP certification. In fact, any type of food certification or auditing software certification would be great the have at this time.
Under most circumstances, people would probably rather not know what happens to food before it reaches store shelves, and thus, they would have no interest in ISO 27001 certification. However, the more we hear about food borne illness, we learn a lot about food production, whether we like it or not. Obviously, the production of food is a massive undertaking, and thus, one can imagine how difficult it would be to monitor the production and distribution of all that food. ISO 27001 certification, or any ISO training course, is one way to do this. In fact, if one is interested in a career related to food production certification, there are countless training courses that could prepare them for such a career. However, ISO 27001 certification is merely one such certification.
In addition to ISO 27001, there are various other other ISO training needed in order to meet all ISO certification requirements. However, the more ISO certification that one receives, the more valuable they will be as a food regulation inspector. Thus, ISO 27001 training is a great place to start, although there are various other ISO certifications in addition to ISO 27001 training. Refernce materials: ul-dqsusa.com
